History
Project Light was formed by a group of civic leaders brought together in the 2020 class of Leadership Atlanta. Overwhelmed by the reality of stark inequality and racial injustice in the communities in which they work and live, they knew they had to act.
Project Light was born out of the desire to create impact by shining a light on and amplifying the work of people and organizations already working to establish racial equity across metro Atlanta. Project Light’s name, mission and logo were all inspired by Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s quote: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” In essence, we shine a light on others already doing the work to establish racial equity in our community.
Today the organization and its leadership uses its collective strength in the areas of influence, strategy, human capital, and financial resources to fulfill its mission.
